The Queen's Gambit follows the life of an orphan chess prodigy, Beth Harmon, during her quest to become the world's greatest chess player while struggling with emotional problems and drug and alcohol dependency. The title of the series refers to a chess opening of the same name. The Queen's Gambit is indeed a great show because It's a smart, well-told story and Taylor-Joy is fantastic as Beth Harmon, a chess prodigy who learns to play from the janitor in her orphanage and takes those skills all the way to Moscow to play the world's best grandmaster by the time she's 20. Beth Harmon influenced many players of chess in the community, as well as teaching boys and girls how to always chase your dream, no matter what other people think of you. This show illustrates the passion, as well as the motivation Beth Harmon reached to chase her dreams of becoming a world wide champion.
